Why Choose The Law Firm of G. David Heiman?
Why is it important to have an experienced lawyer represent you in your Texas divorce or other Texas Family law case? For the same reason that you would want your doctor to have experience performing the type of surgery he or she recommends performing on you! Academic knowledge is foundational to success, but it is experience which teaches how to best utilize that knowledge!

Sometimes we are asked whether it is important to have a local lawyer represent someone in Family Court. Well, would you be more comfortable accepting a repair estimate from a family member or friend than from a stranger? Judges know on which lawyers they can rely to be truthful and forth-coming. And, those judges are going to decide who wins or loses on many, or perhaps all, issues in a Family Law case.

Mr. Heiman has practiced in the Denton County, Texas Courts which handle Texas Family Law matters since the 1980's, and in the Collin County, Texas Family Courts for over a decade. Mr. Heiman's vast experience with these Texas Family Courts allows him to remove some of the uncertainty from your case.

Write down your questions and bring them to your appointment with The Law Firm of G. David Heiman, so that you can see if you don't agree that you would prefer that your family lawyer be experienced. We offer personalized and professional service and have been well established in Denton County, Texas since 1989   Contact us today for an appointment in either our Little Elm, Texas, The Colony, Texas, or Lewisville, Texas offices!

Texas Testamentary Wills, Texas Living Wills, Texas Powers of Attorney, and Texas Declarations of Guardianship
Over 90% of Americans do not have documents necessary to express their last wishes! Consequently, this large majority of folks leave those decisions in the hands of their relatives, and the government. While thinking about our demise may be uncomfortable, it is necessary to do in order to relieve our loved ones of  trying to make those decisions for us which we should have made for ourselves. A Texas Living Will and a Texas Medical Power of Attorney can avoid a "Terry Schiavo" situation.

A Texas Testamentary Will allows us to dispose of our property, in accordance with our wishes, at the time of our passing on from this life. A Texas General Durable Power of Attorney can be used to allow a trusted person to manage our affairs should we become disabled. Finally, A Texas Declaration of Guardian allows us to choose who will (and/or who will not!) be appointed as our Guardian, should that need arise in the future. We have handouts for our clients that further explain each of these instruments. We will be glad to meet with you to discuss these matters in any of our offices located in Little Elm, Texas, The Colony, Texas, and Lewisville, Texas.

About David Heiman:
I was licensed to practice law by The Supreme Court of Texas on November 3, 1989. During my first two years of practice, I trained extensively as a plaintiff's personal injury lawyer in a high volume law firm. Since December 1991, I have been in my own law firm, and have handled cases under the Texas Family Code (in addition to my personal injury practice), involving divorce, child custody, modification, adoption, parental rights termination, and child support. I have successfully handled appellate cases and mandamus cases in the Fort Worth, Texas Court of Appeals, and in the Supreme Court of Texas. My practice also includes preparing testamentary wills, including testamentary trusts and guardianship provisions. Our newest Denton County, Texas law office is located in Little Elm, Texas. This office was established after we noticed the many new housing developments in Little Elm, Texas; the new roads in LIttle Elm, Texas; and all of the new residents of Little Elm, Texas. With no other Denton County, Texas lawyer for divorce and family cases officing in Little Elm, Texas, it appeared to be a good opportunity for us!
